The Year 5 Learner
In Ulster class, children will be heard read at least once a week by a member of teaching staff. This will be recorded in your child's reading record book with a comment on explicit reading skills for fluency and comprehension.
Adult helpers may also hear your child read in school. This will be recorded in your child's reading book with an 'I have read with an adult today' stamp. Children will be able to change their reading books when they have finished them, and adults in the classroom will check that the child has read and understood the book that they have read.
Reading books and reading record books should be kept in your child's book bag so that we can update them when needed.
