The Reading and Phonics Home School Partnership

In Oxford class, children will be heard read at least once a week  by an adult at school.  This will be recorded in your child's reading record book with a comment on explicit reading skills for fluency and comprehension.  This will be recorded in your child's reading book with an 'I have read with an adult today' stamp. Children will be able to change their reading book when they have finished reading them. The children will be benchmarked on a half termly basis to ensure that they are reading at the appropriate level. Please read with your child daily and sign their reading record book. Year group specific key words can be found in  the support pages of your child’s reading record. Reading books and reading record books should be kept in your child's book bag so that we can update them when needed.

Children will also have a library book which will be changed on FridaysThis book is one that has been chosen to read for enjoyment which, as discussed at the parent reading workshop (slides can be found under the parent workshops section) you might read to your child.
