LI: To test materials for stretchiness

Elastigirl could not save the planet as her costume was not stretchy enough!! Thinking back to our topic about 'Everyday Materials' last term, we need to find the best material to make her new costume from.

Task 1:

Find some materials around your house and pull them (not to hard and with your parents permission) and see if you can put them in order from most stretchy to least stretchy.

Some examples of materials could be:

  • lycra
  • spandex
  • leather
  • silk
  • cotton
  • plastic
  • elastic

Task 2:

Choose the most appropriate material for Elastigirl’s new costume and write a sentence about which material would be most suitable. You may also want to think about the flexibility and comfortability of the material too.
