Last week we were learning about mammals. This week we will be learning about amphibians.

Lesson 4:

To identify and name a variety of common animals including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

Success criteria:

I can identify and name common animals

I can gather information to answer questions.

With help, I can record and communicate my findings in a range of ways and begin to use scientific language.

Watch this video about amphibians to find out more:-

What are amphibians? | Primary Biology - Animal Types

Watch this powerpoint to find out about the life cycle of a frog and learn some interesting facts about frogs.
Now have a try at sequencing the life cycle yourself and write about the frog life cycle.

Scientific questions to talk about at home:

What kind of animals have you found out about so far this half term?

Are frogs - fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds or mammals?

How do you know it is an amphibian?

Why are amphibians different to mammals, reptiles and birds?

Key words:

animal, reptile, fish, amphibian, bird, mammal, habitat

Extra challenge!

Have a go at labelling the parts of a frog.

Can you find out about some other amphibians?  You could have a look at toads or newts!  Draw a picture of them and add some labels yourself!
