The Five Senses

All animals have senses. Do you know what they are? Have a look at the slideshow, or download the PowerPoint below to find out about the 5 senses in humans.

Go on a 5 senses scavenger hunt using the document below.

Sight: close your eyes or ask a grown up to blindfold you. Ask your grown up to help you walk around your house or garden. Is it easy when you can’t see?

Hearing: ask a grown up to make a sound (for example banging a hand on the table.) Listen to the sound from close by. What happens to the sound as you move further away from it? How far away do you have to be before you can no longer hear it?

Touch: collect objects with different textures and make a collage. Can you find something that is soft, something that is hard, something smooth, something rough. What other textures can you find?

Taste: ask a grown up to find food that is sweet, salty, bitter and sour for you to taste. Which taste did you like the most?

Smell: ask a grown up to put some different smelling things into a container and cover them with a piece of tissue. Have a sniff at the pots. Can you guess what is in them?
