Basic Skills

Phonics and reading should be done daily:

Phonics Play

Phase 2 and 3 tricky words (tricky word trucks)

Phase 2 and 3 sounds (flashcards time challenge or flashcards speed trial)

Phonics Bug

We have now covered all Phase 2 and 3 sounds. Please re-watch videos and practise those sounds your child is finding tricky. Your child needs to be able to say the sound when they see the letters and write the letters when they hear the sound. They also need to be able to apply all these letters and sounds when spelling words.

Read, Write, Inc.

Set 2 Speed Sounds videos. If your child is confident in reading and writing all sounds you have learnt so far, you could try Set 3.

bbc bitesize

Follow the link below to find activities to practise Phase 3 phonics.

Tricky Words

Your child should now have been introduced to all the tricky words in Phase 2, 3 and 4 phonics. Practice reading these daily. Your child should be able to read these words and write them from memory.

Read your reading book and write a comment in your reading record book.

username: your child's name (starting with a capital letter)

Please let me know on a Friday if your child will run out of books for the following week and I will add more so that they are ready when you need them smiley

This week in Literacy we will be writing our own version of The Bog Baby story. You may wish to listen to the original story again to remind yourself what happened.
