Basic skills
Maths
This week we will be looking at AREA a for our maths.
Please look at the introduction on Area first and then choose your challenge. You might want to print off the sheets to work on or just write the answer down. Make sure it is clear which challenge you completed.
Challenge!
If you have completed the tasks and feel confident, have a look at the word problems for area and perimeter (the measurement around the outside of a shape).
Spellings
Have a look at the slides below and explore some homophones and their different meanings.
GUIDED READING
Have a look at the video Catch-a-Lot and see if you can answer the questions.
Challenge: What question would you write about the film or the characters that you could ask a friend to answer?
SPAG
I have added some sheets for you to print out and have a go at. They look at punctuation and grammar.
Research
As a class we will be exploring Mexico, as this week has a focus on Art, please research a famous Mexican artist. Frida Kahlo is probably one of the most well known Mexican Artist of the modern age. She is fascinating in her art and philosophy (thoughts and ideas) about herself.
Complete a fact file about her and her life. When was she born? When did she die? Details of her family. Add pictures of Frida. What signifiant events happened in her life that influenced her art? Where in Mexico did she come from? Any other interesting facts.
You can present this any way you like: Draw a chart and use subheadings, use drawings to illustrate the information you find out about, present the information about Frida as a mind map. Think about how we complete the Fact File about David Hockney- you could do the same for Frida.
You can complete your own research or use the document below.
A good website to look at is: https://kids.kiddle.co/Frida_Kahlo
