Allotment, wild trail and orchard
The grounds behind the school building are a wonderful resource and always an unexpected surprise to our visitors.
During our Forest School sessions, Shenley pupils spend time learning to grow and harvest their own produce. They maintain and work with their teachers to keep a wonderful allotment. During after school club children are also given the opportunity to enjoy the allotment and keep the school looking fantastic using their gardening skills.Pupils have cooked and tasted the allotment's produce too!
We have a marvellous link with ‘Shenley Park Trust’ who not only run a gardening club, but have planted a small orchard in the school grounds. Each year children visit Shenley Park where they learn about orchard management and help press apples for juicing. Have a look on our class pages for more pictures during 'Apple Pressing Week'.
