Week Commencing 5th January 2022

Welcome back!

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas Holidays. We have been so proud of how Kipling class have come back to school.  We awarded all the children 'Child of the Week' this week for their motivation and dedication to their learning. Well done!

In English, We have been looking at the book 'Coming to England' by Floella Benjamin. This is part of a whole school book week and next week we will be writing a diary entry in role as Floella Benjamin describing what life is like in London. This week we have been focusing on writing accurate sentences that express Floella's feelings when arriving in London.

Our Art lessons this week have focused on the artist Diane Ewen, who is the illustrator of 'Coming to England' our book week book. On Thursday, we created an 'Artist study'. On Friday, we tried out some of Diane's character drawing techniques and the way she creates watercolour backgrounds. This was so much fun! Next week we are going to create a 'final piece' in the style of Diane Ewen.

We now have PE on a Monday. We are also starting dance lessons this term on a Wednesday. Therefore we can wear PE kit Monday and Wednesday.

Have a lovely weekend!
